We’re very excited to announce that, after several months of unavoidable delay, the Adopt-a-Monument Project will officially begin on 1st April!
The Project, part of a new £9 million Scottish programme of projects to invest in the Highlands and Islands to provide more and better-quality opportunities for visitors to enjoy natural and cultural heritage assets is funded by the Natural and Cultural Heritage Fund, and aims to create and sustain jobs, businesses and services in rural areas and remote communities. It will promote and develop the outstanding natural and cultural heritage of the Highlands and Islands in a way that conserves and protects them.
Led by Dr. Paul Murtagh and supported by Phil Richardson of Archaeology Scotland, the project builds on the previous ‘Adopt-a-Monument’ programme in the locality, focusing on various aspects of the historical environment of the peninsula in partnership with AHHA, local landowners and crofters and involve the whole community.
The provisional dates below indicate the main activity and events between April and December 2021.
There will be lots of activities throughout this period including workshops, surveys, talks, training etc. with dates still to be determined.
